The Celestian Earth Science Image Collection

Stan and Sue Celestian have been involved with Earth Science education since 1976. Stan taught Geology, Astronomy and Physical Science at Glendale Community College up to 2007. He retired from full time teaching and is now a Instructional Professional at Arizona State University West Campus, where he continues to teach Geology.

Sue taught Geology part-time at Glendale Community College until accepting a full time job as Curator of the Arizona Mining and Mineral Museum. Since retiring as curator, she continues to teach Geology through Rio Salado Community College.

Both Stan and Sue actively travel to geologically interesting areas, and, armed with photographic gear, they capture a wide variety of geological subjects and processes, through the eyes of experienced geologists. They are happy to share their photos with the educational community, and hope the images are used to inspire a desire to learn more about the natural world.

Stan and Sue also support the efforts of CAMMAZ in reinstating the Mineral Museum. Sue, as a past curator, knows firsthand the value of both hands-on and personalized geological educational opportunities that were presented to students, teachers and any curious person who visited the Museum. They consider the closing of the Museum be a tragic loss to the education of people, both young and old.
