The Pinal Geology and Mineral Museum is located in the Artisan Village of Coolidge at 351 N. Arizona Boulevard in Coolidge. It opened in June 2015 thanks to many donations of material for exhibits and thanks to the work of the members of the Pinal Gem and Mineral Society that meets at the Artisan Village. The goal of the Museum is to educate the public, especially students, about the earth we live on with exhibits, classes, and other activities. It is open Thursday and Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM. Admission to the Museum is free.
There are exhibits of rocks, minerals, and fossils. Special exhibits include fluorescent minerals, Arizona minerals, and the Wicklund mineral collection. Plans are underway for additional exhibits focusing on the geology of Pinal County. There is a kid’s fossil dig where every kid can find and take home a small fossil collection. A gift shop has minerals, fossils and jewelry for sale. For more information go to the website: pinalgeologymuseum.org.
